"What's Next for Native American and Indigenous Studies"?

The Native American
Studies program at the University of Oklahoma is hosting an international
scholarly meeting in May of 2007, the first of three such meetings being planned as a way of exploring the possibility of the creation of an academic
association for scholars who work in American Indian/Native American/First
Nations/Aboriginal/Indigenous Studies. The Institute of Native American
Studies at the University of Georgia (2008) and the American Indian Studies
Department at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (2009) have agreed
to host future meetings, which will hopefully give a possible association
its best chance of becoming a reality.
